Our Story
THE LOCK UP GYM
The Lock Up Gym was built from a simple belief: training should make you feel better, not boxed in.
After an 18-year career in professional football — and now as Head of Strength & Conditioning at a professional football club — founder Jake Hyde has spent his life in gyms. He’s trained in world-class facilities, worked alongside elite coaches, and lived the discipline required to perform at the highest level. But one thing never changed: his love for environments that feel open, energetic and alive.
Jake never enjoyed feeling cooped up indoors, cut off from daylight and fresh air. He wanted space to move, to breathe, and to train in a way that felt natural and motivating — not restrictive. That’s why The Lock Up was created on a working farm, with indoor-outdoor training spaces that open up to the elements. Sunshine when it’s there, shelter when you need it — training that works with you, not against you.
But The Lock Up isn’t just about the setting. It’s about how training fits into real life.
After a long day, the last thing most people want to do is think about programming, reps, or what workout to follow. Jake built The Lock Up so all you have to do is show up. The coaching team takes care of the rest — leading structured, challenging sessions that remove decision-fatigue and replace it with momentum.
The ethos is simple: expert coaching, small groups, high energy, and a genuine sense of team. It’s the same environment Jake thrived in as a professional athlete — now adapted for everyday people who want to train hard, enjoy it, and see real results.
Since opening, The Lock Up has grown into a tight-knit community of members who support each other, push each other, and keep showing up. From first-timers to HYROX competitors, from busy parents to elite athletes, everyone trains side by side — united by effort, not ego.
This is training stripped back to what matters: movement, coaching, community, and consistency.
This is The Lock Up.
